a landscape of marble objects: geometrically distinct, adapted from familiar typologies, deliberately assembled, and juxtaposed with other ready-made elements. it is presented as an installation of accumulated objects and things, creating a topography - an artificial landscape. yet each object stands alone independent of the other, intrinsically linked in materiality. there is a vagueness in functionality, allowing space for interpretation- the familiar is extracted and the unfamiliar a possibility for extended associations. Relating to these objects on a personal level through the process of identification and the unconscious projection of meaning and function.

imbedded on and around these marble objects are other unrelated found artifacts, often produced in series. appropriated in this context to evoke a specific relational esthetics to the marble objects as well as imply utility.

the specific selection of marble is based on two interests: first, the return to craft and process of making which involves deduction and sculpting. each piece produced by master craftsmen in napoli, italy; celebrating slow and timely process. second, the specific aesthetic nature of the carrara marble. the marble’s sturdiness, density, mass, contrasted by the white almost weightless appearance. the material asserts itself as a solid permanent object, yet the white (grey-ingrained) nature of the carrara marble alludes a sense of ephemerality. there is a blurriness within the material quality, a kind of opaque sensuality that at times begins to visually reduce from its solidity and contrast the reality of its weight.
